Lore & Origin
Chimpanzini Bananini was published on March 13, 2025 by TikTok user @alexey_pigeon. The video featured an AI-generated image of a monkey-banana hybrid accompanied by a nonsensical Italian voiceover. It gathered over 29 million views and 3 million likes within two weeks, eventually surpassing 50 million total views. The character quickly became one of the most recognized figures in the Italian brainrot canon.
Chimpanzini Bananini embodies the pure essence of Italian brainrot — take two completely unrelated things (a chimpanzee and a banana), fuse them with AI, give them a rhyming pseudo-Italian name, and let the internet do the rest. The character has spawned derivative videos across TikTok and YouTube, with fan-made powerscaling videos and lore explanations adding layers of ironic depth to what is fundamentally a picture of a monkey-banana hybrid.
